FEASIBILITY STUDY REPORT ON THIRD CROSS-MUSI RIVER (MUSI III) PROJECT

Kategori: Universitas IBA

A team of researchers has executed feasibility studies on the two projects, Musi III and IV. A Report of the latter had been submitted to the parties concerned of the South Sumatra Province. This Report is of the former. It explains situations of two existing bridges, Musi I and II, convinces of the background that requires two more cross-river facilities, probes current statuses of the two projects and finds the cause of the slow progress and deletion of them in their extravagancy. Hence, this Report makes an utmost effort to reduce Musi III’s cost to an affordable degree without qualitative and functional deterioration. To realize the objective, this study offers Underwater Traffic Pipeline (UTP). Comparative studies with conventional structures, i.e., bridge and tunnel, show UTP’s decisive superiority to them. It asks, ‘Why not
UTP, if it’s structurally and operationally steadier and easier than Underwater
Gas/oil Pipeline that are common practices?’ UTP is invisible; hence, it may do little with its looks. However, its technical superiority will remain in history. Last, this Report declares, ‘There’s no way other than UTP to realize Musi III promptly.’
